The Boston Celtics are one of the most succesful franchises in the history of the NBA and of sports; a true dynasty. Since the foundation of the Celtics in 1946, the Celtics have won a record 17 NBA Championships, including an also record 8 NBA Championships in a row. The most recent of these NBA Championships was in 2008, when they beat the long-time rival Los Angeles Lakers. More on their current situation below...

Current Situation (2010-2011)
Last Updated: May 2011
The Celtics finished 3rd in the East this year with a 56-26 record. They are currently struggling against the Miami Heat in the 2nd round of the playoffs. You can see up-to-date information on the widget provided on the right.

Boston went from being one of the worst teams in the NBA in 2006-2007, to be a dominant force by forming Boston's second "Big Three," Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen. Paul Pierce was already an all-star, and the off-season trades with the Seattle Supersonics for Ray Allen and Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Garnett completed the formation of the "Big 3." Rajon Rondo became an all-star caliber point guard when teamed up with these wiley vetarans. Boston added two all-star centers for the 2010-2011 season with the free agency signings of Shaquille O'Neal and Jermaine O'Neal, and have surrounded these veterans with great young talent and depth.

With this team in place the Celtics are always a tough matchup, and a likely candidate to win the NBA Championship. With many "older" veterans by NBA standards, the time is now for the Boston Celtics to reclaim the NBA Championship and be the sole owner of the record for most Championships. It's a tough road through the East with the re-vamped Miami Heat giving them more than they can handle now, and if they can turn it around possibly the East leading Chicago Bulls waiting around the corner....then there's always the tough Western Conference contender waiting.

Team Logo
The Celtics' team logo is a leprechaun spinning a basketball on his finger while leaning on a walking stick. The leprechaun is standing in front of a green ring with "Boston Celtics" written in white. The current version of the Celtics' logo has the leprechaun with black pants, black shoes, and a black hat with a gold vest, gold on the hat, and green 4-leaf clovers on the vest. The basketball and walking stick are also brown. The prevoius logo was only white and green, with the only color being on the ring in the background, and on the 4-leaf clovers
