The WNBA

The WNBA is the premiere professional basketball league for women. It was sanctioned by the NBA in 1996 and began its first season in 1997. It has been running now for 13 seasons, and currently is running strong with 12 teams - many in their original cities with original names (which are related to the NBA team name in that city).
